Hello World!

In today's blog post, I will be giving you a mini-sized digital tour of my second home, Berlin!

Why I chose Berlin instead of my real birthplace, you say? I'll show you what makes Berlin so special and hopefully by the end of it you will understand why exactly I claim Berlin as my adopted hometown.

Let me start off our tour with a few links that can help you in case you want to do some deeper research on your own.

Now I'm going to show you around and recommend a few fun things you can do in Berlin:

 1. take a bath in the sun at Körnerpark in Neukölln

Known for its luscious greenery and wide spaces ideal to spread a picnic blanket on, Körnerpark in Berlin's Neukölln district is a beloved destination for Berliners in the summer time.

 2. Lunch at Tokyo Gohan, Admiralsbrücke in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg

For those of you reading who want to experience the abundant cultural diversity of Berlin, I recommend getting lunch at Tokyo Gohan, an onigiri restaurant located in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, a minute walk from a popular bridge called "Admiralsbrücke", which is always filled with locals during summer time. Putting this combination on your itinerary is crucial or you're seriously missing out (maybe I'm a bit biased since I used to work there but that's neither here nor there).

 3. Deutsche Kinemathek in Mitte

Let yourself be enchanted by the artistic exhibitions in the Deutsche Kinemathek showcasing German cinema history and giving insight to behind-the-scenes and props used in famous German movies. Only until October of this year!

 4. Brandenburg Gate in Mitte

One of the most famous landmarks in Germany is of course the Brandenburg Gate, very significant for German history and to Berliners as a whole. Not only does it have historic value, it's also very beautiful and one could get lost in the details of the facade for hours.

 5. Shopping at Kurfürstendamm

To unwind I would recommend taking a stroll on Kurfürstendamm, located in the district Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf in the southwest of Berlin. Known for its multifaceted shopping opportunities, it also presents a historical experience, as it is located conveniently near the Zoologischer Garten and winds around the Gedächtniskirche, a church that was partially destroyed in the Second World War.

That wraps up our small digital tour of Berlin! Below I inbedded a map in case you want to discover other places that I haven't mentioned yet, trust me you will find A LOT. Part of the reason why I love Berlin so much is that even in the two years I've lived there so far, it feels like I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of what Berlin has to offer.

I also included a first-person-perspective YouTube video, taking you through the streets of Berlin. It's very entertaining and who knows, maybe this POV won't be enough for you and you will want to visit Berlin yourself ...? Please check it out! ↓
